Yes, I know it's been over a week since I promised this new segment in my last Geek Item of the Week video, but it's finals week. I've actually been studying (sort of) and writing a 10-page paper. Anyhow, enough about me, let's get on to some dreamy men!
Most guys who rescue damsels in distress wear shining armor and ride a trusty steed. Just not your thing? Maybe you prefer a man in a leather jacket and black jeans? Or perhaps a trench coat and Converse? Or what about a bow tie and a fez? (Fezzes are cool.) As for the trusty steed? Replace that with a space- and time-traveling police box, please!
Whether he's played by Chris Eccleston, David Tennant, or Matt Smith (although I must admit, I'm a Ten girl), the Doctor is pretty much the ultimate fantasy man for geeky ladies such as myself. Who else can just show up and whisk you away from your average life, say working in a shop or hospital, or on your wedding day - or the night before, for that matter, and take you anywhere - and anyWHEN - that you want to go. Paris in the 1800s, New York in the Roaring Twenties, and that's not even the really cool stuff.
When you travel with a Time Lord, pretty much nowhere is off-limits. Think of all the alien worlds just waiting to be explored, planets that haven't even been discovered by Earthlings yet. Could anyone but the Doctor take you to the end of the Universe and back? Not likely.
Plus, the Doctor really cares about his companions. In fact, he was totally in love with Rose (don't even get me started on that), and maybe a little with Amy too. Heck, the Doctor even cared about Micky and Rory, and there certainly wasn't any romantic interest there.
But there is a downside to traveling with the Doctor: you usually turn out a bit messed up by the end. I mean, sure, Rose ended up in a parallel universe, Martha could never have a normal life again, Donna can't remember the Doctor or else her head will explode, and the Ponds didn't get to raise their daughter. But hey, I'd take that chance.
